Description:

For some time I've been an advocate of what is known as "shipping container houses". (ISBU Quick Facts) Shipping containers are officially called ISBUs (Intermodal Steel Building Units) . I wanted my house models to be taken seriously, so I made this component to use in my final models. It is a rather accurate model of a 40' ISBU (I went out and measured a container) - but it's not perfect. There are a few aspects that aren't truly accurate in my model such as the underside and the simple flat roof I used. It's to be used as a simpler model in pre-design work.
I'm currently chasing a manufacturer grade set of CAD details for the ISBUs. I'm anxious to get them and create highly accurate certifiable plans that could be taken seriously.
A feature you cannot realize is that this model is actually a Dynamic Component for SketchUp. I wrote a (SketchUp) script for this model. With-in my original model, I can click to open and close the door. You won't be able to do that in the browser version.
